Work Experience

 

Process Engineer, Industrial Learning Systems, Pittsburgh

  • Principal Investigator for a patented solar wafering project. Obtained a grant of US$148,500 from National Science Foundation for this particular project (Small Busniess Innovation and Research Grant).
  • Modeling and design of the air filters – in collaboration with American Air Filters. Main aim of the project is to enhance the filter performance and improve the profitability.

Researcher, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh

  • Modeling and Control of Chemical Looping Combustion Reactors and Gasifiers (with DOE, NETL), Multi-Phase Reactor Systems (with ALCOA Inc., Pittsburgh), Multi-Scale Modeling and Control of Fluidized Bed Reactors for Producing Solar Grade Silicon (with REC Silicon Inc, Washington).
  • Multi-Scale Modeling of the Novel Float Process for Producing Thin Silicon Films.
  • Adaptive control, Model Predictive Control, System Identification, parameter estimation and experimentation of a shell-tube heat exchanger (mentored a post graduate student).
  • Micro-Scale Modeling of Surface Oxidation in Mn Strengthened Interstitial-Free Steels (with POSCO, Korea).

 

Applications Engineer, i-Math Pvt Ltd, Singapore

  • Worked collaboratively with software customers to ensure successful use of COMSOL.
  • Conducted seminars and workshops for various industrial and academic researchers on Finite Element Modeling - highlighting the importance and usefulness of MATLAB and COMSOL.
  • Contributed to advanced technical guidance on multidisciplinary applications like applying finite element principles in the area of power electronics and biomedical applications.

My research interest is mainly focused on Modeling, Optimization and Control of Various Systems. In specific:

 

  • Modeling and Simulation of the Novel Solar Wafering Technology
  • Dynamic modeling of Multi-Phase Reactor Systems used in Aluminum Production
  • Multi-Scale Modeling in Industrial Applications
  • Inventory Control of Moving Bed Reactors
  • Moving Boundary Problems - Modeling based on Level Set Method
  • Advanced Control Strategies such as Learning Control, Repetitive Model Predictive Control of Hybrid Systems
  • Modeling Various Systems from First Principles (simulated using the Multiphysics Modeling Software - COMSOL) and Scaling Analysis
  • Population Balance Modeling of Tumor Cells using Finite Elements Method
